A distinction to be debated

A man accosted my friend Patrick with advice as we left the Bier Stein the other night. Hobo or not, this man was intoxicated and yelling very counter-evolutionary kinds of phrases at us. I thought the best was "We must all live outside!". This was in response to telling him we were planning a camping trip. Once again, good advice if taken in a larger societal context. I sympathize with the idea of "getting back to the land", removing ones self from society. Of course, maybe he meant living in an encampment with several others? Like this one, or the one that was recently removed west of town.

I must go pet Mr. Tom, he is looking haggard.

We Are All Buddhists

Check out this new article by David Brooks on neurology and religion. It's something that many people have been thinking but not saying, yet. At least I have, maybe I'm weird. I always wait for these enlightened individuals to come along and put words to my intuitive rudimentary thoughts.

#1 Words of Advice and Politics

I rode my bike to the first day of my work back in Eugene. This took me along the good ol' Fern Ridge bike trail. Now, for about 15 minutes I saw no other living soul than that of a hobo. It was a very uniquely Eugene experience. I received one memorable piece of advice from a man with a small dog, long hair, and a torn t-shirt.

"Helmet hair is better than a concussion little missy! I know I got a concussion once.... (trailed off, kept riding)".

I put on my helmet at the next light.

In other news: THIS is amazing. I will cry the sweet tears of joy on Tuesday, for my state, my home, will have finally gotten a say in picking our democratic nominee. And it appears that we are going to be the counter balancing win to hers in West Virginia. I've never been so proud.
